and yet my husband never gets it, either, when i put his shoes and etc. on the stairs. perhaps he expects the shoes to walk themselves up.

I've found that getting drunk and crying hysterically over report cards also fails to convey intended message, however, at least that is a lot more fun.

Sue

Wow. Those are some shiny stairs. I believe you have been fooling us with all that "stuff under my couch" talk. There's nothing under your couch, is there?

Audubon Ron

I hate these complicated riddles. What's the message? Just tell me.

Elizabitch

Honestly, did you actually expect any other result?

Suburban Kamikaze

Your mistake was leaving them a path to get up the stairs. If they have to pick crap up to go up the stairs then the message becomes more obvious. Subtlety does not work...

Nancy R

Perhaps a sign "Stairway Toll: Return an item to it's proper home"

I feel your pain as I often command, "Walk into every room in the house and pick up each pair of shoes that is yours and PUT THEM AWAY."
